Physician Bio

Casey G. Batten, MD is a double board-certified physician, certified in Family Medicine and Sports Medicine. He is Director of Primary Care Sports Medicine at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic and serves as Lead Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician for the Los Angeles Rams.

Dr. Batten holds a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology-Exercise Science from the University of Wisconsin. After attending medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin, he completed his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine-Chattanooga Unit. Batten went on to complete his fellowship with the UC Davis-UC Berkeley Sports Medicine Program.

Prior to joining Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic, Dr. Batten served at the University of California, Berkeley starting in 2006 as an Assistant Team Physician, and in 2010 was named Head Team Physician for the University of California Department of Athletics. Prior to Cal, Dr. Batten was an Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopedics at the University of California, San Francisco.

Dr. Batten continues as an invited speaker on various sports medicine topics on a local and national level, and also serves as a peer reviewer for two respected sports medicine publications. He has published on topics such as concussion and physical activity factors in adolescent athletes. Dr. Batten is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine as well as the NFL Physicians Society.

Dr. Batten provides treatment for a full range of primary care sports medicine conditions including:
