Clinical research done on former patients and athletes contributes to the evolution and enhancement of individual surgical procedures. The experience is in turn passed on to all of Kerlan-Jobe's patients who require orthopaedic care, not just the professional athlete.

All of our physicians are board certified and experts in their field. Virtually all of our procedures are on the forefront of innovation in their particular field including hand and foot, spine and trauma cases.

    Evaluation
We specialize in helping people on the go stay healthy and active. We've been so successful, in fact, that we've developed affiliations with numerous professional athletes and serve as team physicians for most of Southern California's professional sports teams. Kerlan-Jobe is considered the expert in comprehensive sports medicine and rehabilitation, so we're able to offer complete evaluation and treatment for injuries to help each patient achieve his/her goals.

Your physician will take the time to evaluate your condition and will insure that you understand your diagnosis completely. Based on your evaluation, you may be X-rayed on the spot or have a more complex imaging session scheduled, i.e., MRI or CT scan. Either way, a specific course of treatment will be determined based on your goals. Recommended treatment may involve conservative therapies such as medications and physical therapy, or it may involve surgical intervention. Either way, you are an active participant in the process.

    Diagnostic Imaging
At Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic, we understand that an accurate, timely diagnosis is the first step to recovery. That's why we offer a range of diagnostic services in addition to flexible scheduling and dependable results within a few days. Our state-of-the-art equipment is housed in an area of the facility with ample windows and natural light minimizing potential patient anxiety when having a body part enclosed in one of the diagnostic machines. Tests are read by on-site Radiologists with extensive experience in identifying injuries unique to the orthopaedic population. Effective diagnostic services allow us to recommend the most appropriate treatment.

    Surgery Center
The Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic Surgery Center was developed by clinical personnel to offer the safest, highest quality surgical care. Modern medical advances have made it possible for most of Kerlan-Jobe's patients to have elective surgery and return home the same day. There is an extended recovery area where a patient may stay for 23 hours following surgery before going home. This affordable and convenient alternative to overnight hospitalization has earned us a reputation as the region's "Center of Excellence for Outpatient Surgery". Complex surgery requiring inpatient hospitalization is done at local medical centers.

    Clinical & Scientific Research
As a preeminent center for research and education in both orthopaedics and sports medicine, Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic remains a pioneer in medical breakthroughs. We have been responsible for developing advanced surgical methods and procedures to enhance treatment, rehabilitation and recovery for our patients.

In 1973, the clinic established an orthopaedic and sports medicine fellowship program that is now one of the country's largest and most respected. Each year this program provides intensive training and research for more than a dozen of the nation's finest young doctors. This is a fitting tribute to its founder, Dr. Kerlan, who passed away in September of 1996, after dedicating nearly fifty years of medical education, research and clinical practice to the medical community.
